I've just started reading a book called "Telling the Story: Evangelism for the next generation" The first chapter is called, "The Heart of the Matter: Characteristics of a Great Evangelist." The authors reflect on the Bible and the lives of great evangelists down the ages.
These are the questions that I want to challenge myself with:
1) Am I working up an imitation fire, or am I experiencing the Holy Spirit's work in my life?
2) Am I preaching Jesus Christ? And am I preaching him as the one who died for our sins, was buried and was raised on the third day?
3) Am I living a life of holiness?
4) Do I have a big vision which reflects Christ's?
5) Do I have holy audacity?
6) Am I willing to be criticised for what I represent and preach? Or do I want to please men?
7) Is my goal to honour and build the church?
8) Do I love those who love Jesus in the wider body of Christ?
9) Have I learned the secret of prayer?
10) Do I expect to be faithfully fulfilling Jesus' Great Commission all my days?
