The cross means justice

We cry out for justice. Injustice makes us angry. Why? Because we are made in the image of Almighty God. He is passionate about justice and hates injustice (see Isaiah 1, and much of the rest of the Bible). His very nature is justice.

That is why our God, the God of justice, is the God who dies on a cross. Justice simply MUST be done. For sin not to be punished is unthinkable. Our God does not hide sin away, and pretend it never happened. No, to do so would make him corrupt and an accomplice to sin.

Instead the cross speaks of His justice. But a justice whose method is one of grace. My evil is punished justly. But I am free. Adopted as a child of God. Reconciled. Given eternity, never to be parted from the love of my creator.

The inverse goes for social action, if people want justice they should first go to the cross.
